An Overview of Children's Ministry
Highlands diverse ministries offer opportunities to grow in the Lord and serve the body.
PARENTS WITH YOUNG CHILDREN
We value children and family at Highlands and believe that children are a gift from God. Because of this we have an integrated approach to Family Ministry – meaning that the church and the home work together to nurture our covenant children spiritually. We find a beautiful prescription for Family Ministry in Deuteronomy 6:5-9.
On Sundays during the Worship Service, we provide Bible-based teaching to children up to elementary school age in a separate classroom setting.
We also provide materials each week to help parents reinforce the Bible lesson at home and opportunities for parents to discuss and learn from each other as they seek to raise their children and nurture them spiritually.
Topics have included Modeling Healthy Relationships, Discipline, Growing a Heart of Gratitude in Your Children, Celebrating a Christ-Centered Christmas, Raising Responsible Children, and Spiritual Nurture of Children. We plan events for families for the purpose of fellowship and outreach such as a Fall Kick off brunch, Fall Party, Caroling party, Birthday Party for Jesus (children bring gifts for children in need), Family Game night (families bring items to fill bags for the homeless), a Valentine Party, Easter Egg Hunt, Volunteer Appreciation Lunch, Sole Hope Party, Summer Days at the Park, and a Family Picnic.

Special Drive-Though Greeting for our Families with Children
A Look-Back: Sunday, August 23rd
What a great turnout we had tthat Sunday evening for our "Drive Through" event! Our kids paraded around the parking lot and felt the love from their teachers and adult encouragers. Everyone had a great time.
It is encouraging to consider that even in the time of covid-19, we can find ways to come together (through Zoom, on-line, or with a mask). See you next time!
