An abbreviated story of the Bibletree

God created a good world  and gave this good world as a gift for the people He created. It was a gift of love, and It was paradise.

Yet His people rebelled

The result:   The world and its people fractured and now we experience brokenness (relationships are frustrated and people hurt). Yet, God, in the person of Jesus, came into His world to bring us back to Himself   ....  to repair what was broken

As you read through the Scriptures you see it is the story of the way God gathers a people together for Himself - ultimately and fully through Jesus.

Jesus is building His church, so we who belong to Him won't feel alone or isolated. His church, though scattered all throughout the world and throughout alll nations is yet, one church, united in Jesus.

Jesus will come again to bring full healing (restoration)

                                       ....and make all things new

The outline of history (and of the Bible):

 - Creation  - Rebellion  - Redemption  - RestorationNEWLAND

Who is God?

There is one triune God who exists eternally as a community of three Persons – the Father,   Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are one in power and glory.

What has He done?

God formed the entire universe out of nothing; including man and woman, who are created in his own image and as such, are the crown of God’s good handiwork.

We are then, created out of love; with value, dignity and immeasurable worth.

What happened?

The original relationship people enjoyed with God is fractured by our pride and self-centeredness, which evidences itself in our desire to be our own god.

Because of our inherent proclivity toward sin, people are unable, on their own, to restore that original relationship with God.

Jesus and His Work of Rescue

God sent his son Jesus to mediate and mend humanity’s broken relationship with God by offering Himself as the sacrifice that satisfies God’s justice

This act of atonement (the death and subsequent resurrection of Christ from the grave) repairs the broken relationship between God and people and, by God’s free grace, is received by faith alone.

God gives us his Holy Spirit to convict us of sin (our rebellion and twisted pride), convince us of his Word, and empower us to worship Jesus and bear witness to the world.

The Church (meaning a people, not a building)

The true Church is composed of all people who through saving faith in Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit are, together with their children, united in the family of Christ.

The Church finds her visible, yet imperfect, expression in local congregations where the Word of God is taught and the sacraments are practiced with integrity.

God calls us to reflect the character of Christ in the world and make disciples of all people by offering Christ’s message of love and reconciliation.

Jesus is coming again

Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return to earth to consummate his kingdom, judge the living and the dead, finally eradicate evil, and reveal a new heaven and new earth which will be home for all who belong to Him.  It is then we will, as His people, experience a complete peace and perfect relationships for all eternity.

A more comprehensive expression of our beliefs is found in the Westminster Confession of Faith with the Larger and Shorter Catechism.
